I found a torn page of a song in honour of the Shrike, but it's missing four verses. Perhaps I will be able to find the missing verses somewhere along the way?
The first verse of the anthem goes:
Here comes the Shrike,
Here comes the Shrike,
The Shrike will put you on a spike!
Three more verses left to find.
The second verse of the anthem goes:
The Shrike will make you scream and squeal,
The Shrike will stretch you on a wheel!
Two more verses left to find.
The third verse of the anthem goes:
It sees the truth,
It knows your lies,
Its loyal spies have many eyes.
One more verse to go.
The final verse of the anthem goes:
Defender of the ones who bled,
The one who's singing for the dead,
The sweetest song you've ever heard,
All hail the tiny butcher bird!
I have found all four verses of the ode to the Shrike, which made the Mice quite happy. Each time I am kind towards them, the heaviness I carry upon my chest lifts a little.
